Heading the AI practice at 2OS, a boutique credit-risk consulting firm. My day-to-day is creative problem solving for clients ranging from top-10 US banks to fintechs — usually around how to build interpretable, regulator-friendly ML systems for lending. See /now for the most current focus.
Background
PhD in Theoretical Physics from the University of Virginia. My thesis, Interplay of Symmetry and Interactions in 3D Topological Phases of Matter, focused on coupled-wire constructions of three-dimensional topological phases. Published work includes PRX (2019) and PRB (2018).
I'm fascinated by emergent behavior — systems whose collective properties don't exist in their parts alone. Topological quantum computing, deep learning, credit risk: all variations on the same theme.
Writing
I write here about three things:
- Credit risk and ML in lending — interpretability, regulatory compliance, model risk management, alternative data, BNPL, credit builders. See writings.
